Gaetano Luigi Marini (1742-1815), scholar, was born at Santarcngelo di Romagna, Italy. He received training in the law, before settling in Rome, and becoming prefect of the Vatican's archives and the director of its Lapidary Galley. Marini removed to Paris following the seizure of the archives by Napoleon, and died there in 1815.
